The Stiltz Lodge in Swakopmund, Namibia, gives new meaning to the concept of luxury hotel. If you want something as luxurious as The Stiltz, you can consider Sossusvlei Lodge but if you have stayed in the self-catering ( self contained ) accommodation at The Stiltz, you may prefer to consider Sossusvlei Desert Lodge which is self-catering ( self contained ) accommodation at Sesriem near Sossusvlei in Namibia, and 3 hours drive from The Stiltz in Swakopmund. Further south is Canon Lodge near the Fish River Canyon. If you just need overnight accommodation on your way from The Stiltz in Swakopmund to Upington in the Northern Cape of South Africa you can consider Grunau Country House bed and breakfast accommodaion in the old Grunau Hotel in Grunau or Grunau Lodge Namibia for self-catering ( self contained ) accommodation in Grunau halfway between Upington and Swakopmund. Alternatively consider Orange River Lodge self-catering ( self contained ) accommodation in Noordoewer near the South African border.
Once in South Africa you can find accommodation in Upington which is 2 days drive from Swakopmund. If you want accommodation in the same class as The Stiltz, the best option would be to stay at the Kalahari Sun River Lodge which is a boutique hotel in Upington. If you prefer self-catering ( self contained ) accommodation you will need to choose between Kalahari Monate Lodge on the Spitskop Nature Reserve or Upington Country Lodge in Upington.
After your visit to Swakopmund you may consider visiting Windhoek the capital city of Namibia. You could also opt to drive north to Damaraland where you will be able to stay in accommodation in the same class as The Stiltz in Swakopmund. To name a few: Vingerklip Ugab Terrace Lodge, Twyfelfontein Country Lodge and Palmwag some of Damaraland's reknown lodges in an area where you can see both desert elephants and rhinos. North of Damaraland is Namibia's famous National Park Etosha where The Stiltz recommends Etosha Lodge. It will be a long day but you can drive in one day from Swakopmund to Etosha Game Reserve.
If you want to visit the CAPRIVI in the far north of Namibia, you must allow at least two days to drive from Swakopmund. In the Caprivi The Stiltz recommends the following accommodation.
